Government Spokesman Isaac Mwaura has called on Kenyans to turn out in large numbers for the Jamhuri Day celebrations set for tomorrow at Nyayo Stadium.
He said the event will feature the Trooping of the Colour by the Kenya Defence Forces, cultural performances, and entertainment showcasing Kenya’s diversity.
“We are inviting all Kenyans to come and celebrate this
important day together,” Mwaura said.
“Jamhuri Day is a moment for us to reflect on our unity as a
nation, our patriotism, and the progress we have made since independence.”
He notes that President William Ruto is expected to deliver
a key address during the national ceremony, focusing on Kenya’s achievements
and ongoing development efforts.
Mwaura also provided an update on the activities held during
this year’s Jamhuri Day Thematic Week, which ran from 8–11 December 2025 under
the theme “Tourism, Wildlife, Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and
Exhibitions (MICE).” He explained that the programme was designed to
position Kenya as a global tourism and MICE hub.
“Our goal this week was to showcase Kenya’s capacity to host
major international events and to strengthen our competitiveness,” he said. “We
are improving our event-bidding capabilities, promoting flagship national
events, and investing in modern MICE infrastructure.”
According to Mwaura, the MICE sector continues to support
critical industries such as aviation, hospitality, retail, and the wider
economy.
He noted that Kenya’s connectivity, growing hotel capacity,
digital infrastructure and facilities like the Kenyatta International
Convention Centre (KICC) remain vital in attracting business tourism and
foreign investment.
The thematic week featured youth mentorship forums, cultural
performances, fashion showcases, traditional dances, panel discussions, and the
lighting of the KICC tower. It also included the launch of a holiday booking
desk aimed at boosting domestic tourism.
The programme concluded with the release of the Wildlife
Census Report and a town hall meeting, emphasising the value of cultural and wildlife
tourism in strengthening Kenya’s national brand.
