MP Robert Mbui: MPs criticizing the government are muzzled in Parliament

Mbui claims that the MPs have been gagged, and the Speaker deliberately allows pro-government MPs to voice their sentiments.
"He (speaker) is very particular about who will get an opportunity to speak and many times when members aligned to me because we are on the same side, they hardly get an opportunity to speak," he said on NTV.
MP Mbui explained that MPs are awarded time on the floor by slotting a card that can only be seen by the Speaker.
From the screen, the Speaker then chooses who will be handed the microphone, a mantle Mbui says the speaker is using discriminatively.
"It's only the speaker who can see on his screen. You put your card and you indicate that you are interested in saying something. The Speaker can see all members on the screen and he decides who speaks," he said.
"The alternative voice is muzzled in Parliament because the leadership knows if we give so and so an opportunity, he is likely to say something that we don't want to hear."
He instead urged Parliament's leadership to embrace fairness in allowing MPs slots to voice their arguments in the House.
"If the speaker decides to lean on one side and ignore members leaning to the other side, it becomes very difficult. It even weakens the opposition more."
