MP Mpuru Aburi records statement with DCI over Governor Kawira Mwangaza Senate video
Tigania East
Member of Parliament Mpuru Aburi on Wednesday availed himself at the Directorate
of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters to record a statement regarding a
video allegedly depicting him verbally assaulting Meru Governor Kawira
Mwangaza.
In the video,
which was played before the Senate last week during the impeachment hearing of the
under-fire Governor, Aburi reportedly slammed Mwangaza for not siring any children with her husband.
Speaking to
journalists after recording the statement, Aburi insisted that the video had
been altered to cast him in negative light and to evoke emotions from the
Senate, which later absolved Mwangaza of the seven allegations lodged against
her by Meru MCAs.
"Ile mambo
yote ilikuwa edited, hakuna mambo ya ukweli; kulia kwake alikuwa analia ndio
wamama wasikie uchungu wapige kura," he said.
"Tunamsubiri
Mwangaza akuje aandike statement na akuwe na evidence. Hatufuati evidence iko
nje, tunafuata ile iko Senate ambayo Kenyans waliona ndio tumekuja nayo hapa."
He added that
despite the Senate's ruling, Meru legislators are not ready to hand an olive
branch over to Mwangaza, who seems to have lost the support of the county
assembly.
"Sioni maskizano
yoyote kati ya viongozi wa Meru na Kawira Mwangaza kwa sababu alipoachiliwa
juzi walienda katika kanisa yake bwana yake akaanza kupiga wimbo ya matusi na
tuko nayo kwa simu yetu," he said.
"That means
huyu ni mtu ambaye ata Mwenyezi Mungu amemkataa; lugha yake na mdomo yake ni
mbaya na ndivo Wakenya wajue huyu ni mtu mbaya, ndipo tuko hapa siku ya leo
kuandika statement."
