Man reports girlfriend's ex-husband for 'stalking', gets arrested for impersonating First Lady's staffer
A 30-year-old man has been charged for impersonating a legal officer attached to the office of First Lady Rachel Ruto.
Waziri Benson Masubo alias Benson Waziri Chacha's was arrested on March 21 after he filed a report at the office of the Nairobi Regional Criminal Investigations Officer, Peter Njeru Nthiga, where he falsely asserted that a suspicious vehicle had been trailing him and further expressed concerns for his safety.
In response, Nthiga deployed detectives to investigate the claims only for the sleuths to discover that Masubo concocted the story to intimidate the ex-husband of his current girlfriend, who happened to own the aforesaid vehicle.
"Waziri Benson Masubo alias Benson Waziri Chacha, on the 21st day of March 2024, at the Office of Regional Criminal Investigations Officer Nairobi Area, within Nairobi County, reported that you are a legal officer attached to the office of her Excellency the First Lady of the Republic of Kenya and there was a motor vehicle trailing you registration number KCU 521D make Toyota Passo with a view of harming you," reads official court documents on the same.
"This prompted him (Nthiga) to dispatch a team of police officers to commence investigations and they established that the motor vehicle was not trailing you and it belongs to one Patrick Mwangi Kahuhua, a former husband to your girlfriend and you are a legal officer attached to the office of Her Excellency the first lady of the Republic of Kenya that."
Masubo was likewise charged with providing false information to a public officer contrary to section 105(b) of the penal code.
