Man arrested in Bondo for being in possession of bhang seeds

A 35-year-old man has been locked up at Bondo police station after he was arrested in possession of seeds of bhang.

The man identified as Milton Odera Awuondo was arrested in his home at Usire village, West Sakwa location in Bondo sub-county last evening.

According to Siaya County Police Commander Mr. Cleti Kimaiyo, the suspect was arrested by officers from Bondo police station following a tip-off that they got from members of the public who informed them that the man was believed to be cultivating bhang.

He stated that acting on the intelligence report, the officers proceeded to Odera’s home and arrested him from his house which is within a vast compound estimated at 30 acres.

The police boss added that upon search inside the suspect's house, assorted cans full of seeds believed to be those of cannabis sativa were retrieved.

Mr. Kimaiyo said that the search was also extended inside the vast estate comprising of farm and forested land but never found any grown seedlings of bhang.

The suspect is set to be arraigned on Thursday, May 2, 2024.
