Maendeleo ya Wanawake calls for dialogue between Ruto, Raila
Officials from Maendeleo ya Wanawake Organization (MYWO) have called for dialogue between president William Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga.
The women leaders asked president Ruto to
reach out Odinga to evade Monday’s mass action, and end uncertainties facing
the country.
Led by their national chairperson Rahab
Muiu, the women who converged in Kitale on Sunday noted that growing tension in
the country is dangerous and could hurt the economy.
Joined by MYWO patron, Dr Zipporah Kittony,
the women noted that it is dialogue that would save the country from possible
split.
"There is tension around the country
and we are pleading the president to reach out to his elder brother Raila
Odinga and find a solution to the concerns of the opposition," said Muiu.
Muiu led women in praying for the country,
saying they don't want trouble because women and children are going to suffer if
something happens.
The women expressed fear that the country
is headed to a wrong direction unless the two leaders sit down and discuss the
pertinent issue raised by the opposition.
She urged president to pick his phone and
reach out Odinga before tomorrow for the sake of the country that could be
split into two factions.
