A family in Itunduimuni, Machakos County, is seeking justice after their kin was abducted by armed militia in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Florence Wanza Munyao, a Kenyan truck driver, was kidnapped on August 27, 2024, by the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR) in Eastern Congo.

Wanza’s abduction has since thrown her loved ones into financial turmoil as she was the primary breadwinner for her family.

The family is now pleading for the government's intervention in bringing home their kin.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has asked the standing committee on National Security, Defense, and Foreign Relations to make a statement on her whereabouts.

His request echoed former Senator Johnson Muthama’s appeal for Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi to secure her safe return.

"I am asking Prime Cabinet Secretary @MusaliaMudavadi, who also serves as the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs, to urgently secure the release of Grace Wanza Munyao," Muthama wrote on X early this month.

The Kenyan government, through Principal Secretary, State Department for Diaspora Affairs, Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Roseline Njogu noted at the time that it was aware of the incident and was taking appropriate action.
