M-Pesa agent stabbed to death in Kisumu

The deceased Mercy Muthoni was attacked by a lone suspect who accessed the shop from the back door armed with a kitchen knife and stabbed her in the neck.

The suspect, identified as Justin Otieno, aged 29, attempted to flee the scene after the incident but was cornered by angry members of the public.

According to a police report, he was attacked by a mob and died on the spot.

Police say the woman was rushed to Star Hospital where she succumbed to death while receiving treatment. 

Police visited the scene and recovered the murder weapon as well as several documents belonging to the suspect, including his national identification card, school certificate, baptism certificate, Kra pin, birth certificate and a school leaving certificate.

The bodies are lying at Star Hospital and Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital morgues, respectively, pending autopsy and investigations by DCI officers at Kondele police station.
