Teachers and students at Lugulu Girls School in Bungoma were elated after receiving the 2024 KCSE results that were previously withheld by the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC).

The school posted a mean grade of 9.3417 with 99 per cent of students (672 of 676) qualifying to transition to the university.

13 candidates scored a mean grade of A, 93 attained A- and 191 scored B+. Further, students who scored grades B, B- and C+ were 232, 118 and 25 respectively.

Four students did not attain the cut-off points (C and below) with the lowest grade in the school being a D+.

School principal, Dinah Cheruiyot lauded the teaching staff and the candidates for their impressive performance.

"This morning, we thank God for waiting for our results for a long time and doing very well. The thought of many girls missing their results gave us sleepless nights. As a school with a track record of performing, we will continue with the momentum," she said.

While releasing the 2024 KCSE results, Education CS Migos Ogamba announced that KNEC had cancelled the results of 840 candidates for engaging in exam malpractices.

Further, he noted that the Council had withheld the results of 2,829 candidates pending further investigations.

"It is unfortunate that a few contracted professionals and teachers are, however, still insistent on ruining the future of our learners by subjecting them to examination malpractices," Ogamba said.
