The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) is threatening to go to court to
stop the nomination of 50 Chief Administrative Secretaries by President William
Ruto.
LSK President Eric Theuri says the nomination of 50 CASs is
against what the Head of Public Service applied for and got from the Public
Service Commission - 23 declared vacancies in that position.
Theuri, who was speaking in Mombasa on Saturday, said the
expenditure that comes with the extra CASs should be channelled to fight hunger
and to implement development projects.
“What the President did is breaking the law. We will be in court
on Monday...when we were in court PSC said they wanted to create 23 positions
under the public participation and that was the maximum, we wonder why the
President chose to nominate 50...this for us is politically motivated and not
following the law,” said the LSK boss.
