Speaking on Sunday, Bitok said President William Ruto has instructed the immigration department to make sure that the perennial delay at Nyayo House comes to an end.
"President Ruto ordered me to make sure that Kenyans get passports promptly. He told me he had talked with Ndindi Nyoro to make sure that we have enough resources to streamline the process, so in the next three months we shall end the delay and ensure everyone gets their passport within a month of application," Bitok said.
He further added that the president wants Kenyans to travel out of the country for job opportunities, and he is keen to make sure that happens.
His sentiments come after Kenyans encountered yet another delay at the passport processing centre, despite previous assurances by the government that there would be no further delays.
Kenyans looking to travel out of the country have either had to postpone or cancel their travels due to perennial delays at the immigration desk.
The government said there was a problem with the printing machine and it was doing everything possible to make it work, but this has remained an empty promise so far.
