Approximately 10,000 citizens and government officials are expected to gather at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) on Friday for the swearing-in ceremony of Prof. Kithure Kindiki as the new Deputy President of Kenya.

As early as dawn, crowds began to gather outside KICC, eager to witness the significant occasion which is scheduled to commence at 10 am.

The venue will accommodate 3,000 seated guests, while an additional 7,000 will stand in solidarity to celebrate Kindiki's ascension to office.

Security has been tightened around KICC, with law enforcement agencies deploying personnel to ensure the safety of all attendees.

Kindiki's swearing-in follows a ruling of the High Court in Nairobi on Thursday that set aside a previous order barring his swearing-in following the impeachment of Rigathi Gachagua.

"It is notified for the general information of the public that the swearing-in ceremony of the Deputy President-designate shall take place on Friday, 1st November 2024, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (K.I.C.C.), in Nairobi City County, from 10.00 O'clock," read a gazette notice issued by Secretary to the Cabinet Mercy Wanjau.

Head of Public Service Felix Koskei subsequently gazetted names of members of the Assumption to Office of the Deputy President committee which will make preparations for the swearing-in of Prof. Kindiki.
