Kenya Railways suspends Nanyuki Safari train over heavy rains
Kenya Railways has announced the temporary suspension
of the Nanyuki Safari Train over rainfall interruptions at the Thika-Mitubiri
area.
In
a statement released on Thursday, Kenya Railways said the heavy downpour
witnessed across the country had tampered with the railway line, thus notifying
travellers that the train will not be available on Friday.
“We
wish to notify the public that owing to the heavy rains, a section of the
railway line at the Thika Mitubiri area has been affected,” read the notice.
“As
a result, the Nanyuki Safari train will not run on Friday, April 2024.”
The
State corporation, while apologizing to its customers for the inconvenience, reassured
that its main priority is safety and its staff are presently on site working on
restoring the railway line.
“Our technical teams are on the ground to
address the situation and restore the railway line for normal operations to resume,”
Kenya Railways stated.
“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience
caused and look forward to having you back on board upon normal resumption of
service. The safety of our passengers is of paramount importance to us and we
are doing everything to ensure the network is safe for operations.”
