KeNHA closes North Horr - Kalacha Road, issues flood alert on Nairobi - Garissa Road

According to KeNHA, motorists are expected to resume using the road after an inspection and reconstruction of the damages have been conducted.

“The flow of traffic will only be allowed after a proper assessment and possible reinstatement of any damaged section of the road through the ongoing Routine Maintenance and Spot Improvement Contract which was recently awarded,” stated KeNHA.

At the same time, the authority has issued an alert advising the public of flooding at Mororo area along the Nairobi - Garissa (A3) Road.

KeNHA attributed the flood alert to the rising water level at the Tana River Bridge due to the ongoing rainfall.

“The persisting rainfall portends further water rise, which could affect other previously damaged road sections. Motorists are, therefore, urged to exercise caution as they approach Madogo, Konapunda, and Mororo sections of the A3 Road to Garissa,” KENHA said.

“A contractor is on standby at the site to address any issues as the Authority monitors the situation closely to ensure road accessibility.”

KeNHA further appealed to motorists to exercise patience until the heavy rains subside.
