Kayole police officer shoots man, calls his boss and threatens suicide, then turns gun on himself

A bizarre incident was on Thursday witnessed
when a senior police officer based in Kayole, Nairobi, called his station
commander and threatened to shoot himself.
When the commander rushed to the house of the
officer, since identified as Ezra Ouma, she was informed that he had already
shot himself and was rushed to the Komarock Modern Hospital.
She proceeded to the said facility where it
was established that the officer had shot himself on the chin and passed on
before being attended to.
Preliminary investigations have further shown
that the deceased officer had, prior to taking his own life, also shot another
35-year-old man identified as Philip Muhavi Ayieka on the left foot.
Officers deployed to the scene said they
found no suicide found at the scene, and have not yet establibled any motive for
the Ouma’s actions.
The body of the deceased has since been taken
to the Kenyatta University hospital mortuary pending post-mortem.
