Police from Nangili Police Station have arrested a grandmother in Likuyani, Kakamega County, on suspicion of mistreating her two grandchildren, ages eight and three.
Milka Aluda, the grandmother, allegedly trapped her two grandchildren in a room for two months.
The children's mother is said to be working in Nairobi and has left them in the care of their grandmother, Milka.
According to Assistant Chief Moses Shiundu, the police received a report from concerned neighbours before arriving at Aluda's house to rescue the children.
Shiundu stated that the children were in poor health.
He added that the children were taken to a clinic for first aid before being referred to the main hospital in Likuyani for further treatment.
Milka Aluda is expected to appear in court.
