Uhuru's Jubilee Party now changes venue for NDC
Jubilee
Party has announced a change of venue for their National Delegate Conference
(NDC) slated for Monday next week.
According
to a notice published in the local dailies, the former President Uhuru
Kenyatta-led outfit moved its meeting from the initial location at Bomas of
Kenya to Ngong Racecourse in Nairobi.
The
party further noted that all other details would remain the same as stated last
month.
"Notice
is hereby given that the venue of the Jubilee NDC has been moved to Ngong Race
Course in Nairobi,” read a section of the statement.
“All
other details remain as per the notice published on April 29, 2023.”
The
change of venue comes after Bomas of Kenya’s Marketing and Corporate
Communications Manager Gladys Kangethe wrote to the faction informing them of
ongoing renovation works which began on May 16 and are expected to go on for
eight weeks.
Embattled
Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe had said Kenyatta was expected to preside
over the special NDC, which was originally intended to take place at the Bomas
of Kenya.
“Our
meeting is on. We will advertise the venue and also invite our delegates
through text messages. They will be notified beforehand,” Murathe told the
Nation on Friday.
A
section of the party led by EALA MP Kanini Kega has been at loggerheads with
the other team led by Jeremiah Kioni over internal leadership wrangles.
Last month, te party was ordered to
vacate the premises they currently use as party headquarters in
Kileleshwa after the rival factions clashed.
Kega’s team
on Friday expelled Kioni and Murathe on allegations of gross misconduct and for
failing to respect the party's organs. Jubilee National Treasurer Kagwe Gichohi
was also suspended for two years.
