Jonathan Simiyu: Family appeals for help in finding missing university student
The family of Jonathan
Nabwera Simiyu, a 19-year-old Kenyatta University student is pleading with the
government to assist in locating their son, who went missing on the night of
28th September in the Utawala area.
Jonathan was reported
missing after being called by a friend.
"On the 26th
my son called the father for a laptop that there was a boy who was selling a
laptop tumsaidie apate hio laptop at 15000. The money was sent on 26th Thursday
on Saturday the boy went up missing tukipiga simu alikuwa mteja," his
mother Anne Namsonge says.
It has now emerged
that a friend, Joash, had invited Jonathan to a graduation party in the
Utawala neighbourhood.
Valary Ochieng, a
friend to Joash, narrates the invitation: "I have my friend who is
graduating can you come? And he said okay he will come so that day it's when he
came and he came in a friend and they did not even stay long so he wants to go
that's when he left."
After the party, they
called Joash's cousin, who was at a nearby entertainment joint located at the
Eagle's Business Center along the Nairobi Eastern Bypass.
"So I asked him
one way outside ways of friends Jonathan because I'm not seeing him with you He
told me that Jonathan had told me that the last thing he told me was that he
asked me where the washrooms are. That was the last thing and I asked him at
what time from now he told me like 10 minutes ago," says Calvin Wachana,
Joash’s cousin.
This location was the
last place Jonathan was seen with his friends before his phones were switched
off, and his whereabouts have remained unknown since then.
Jonathan’s friend Joash
Wamnyokoli adds: "Nikaenda kureport Mihango police station akafika, pia me
nikaenda coz I was Among the last people nlikuwa nayee, na tukapewa OB number. Kutoka hio siku hatujaskia kitu yoyote kutoka kwake".
The family has been
searching for Jonathan for two weeks now without much success.
"At the moment
brothers are in tears, the father is admitted he is having some pressure he's
sick and people are not even eating in the house. We are all in tears. We are
praying that God will give us back our son and let him come home safe and with
good health and super mind," says his mother.
