Jecinter Adoyo, a personal assistant of CRA chair to be charged with forging academic documents

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) on Thursday made a decision to charge Jecinter Adoyo Hezron, a senior analyst and personal assistant to the chairperson of Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA) with forging academic documents.

Adoyo is accused of using forged academic documents to get employment at CRA.

“Jecinter Adoyo Hezron was found to have used forged Bachelor of Arts Sociology and Masters of Arts in Development Studies degree certificates from the University of Nairobi to secure employment at the commission on Revenue Allocation as a senior analyst in August 2017,” the ODPP said.

It further directed Adoyo to be charged with fraudulent acquisition of property contrary to Section 45(1)(A) as read with section 48 of the Anti-Corruption and Economic crimes Act of 2023.

Other charges include forgery contrary to section 345 and uttering a false document contrary to section 353 of the penal code.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has recently moved to tame holders of fake academic certificates.

In March, the commission wrote to the Head of Public Service and all accounting officers in the civil service advising them not to pay benefits to civil servants with forged academic papers and professional certificates who are resigning from service.

President William Ruto, during the National Wage Bill Conference raised alarm over the existence of approximately 2,100 individuals who have falsified their academic qualifications to secure government employment.
