IN PICTURES: Patients sleeping on cartons at Kakamega General Hospital

Patients in Kakamega County General Hospital have been sleeping on cut-out carton boxes as makeshift mattresses.

This was revealed after an impromptu visit by Kakamega County’s First Lady Priscilla Oparanya.

During her Monday visit, Kakamega’s First Lady encountered patients receiving treatment in deplorable conditions.

Patients mostly from the surgical ward complained of lack of bedding and medicine which they say the hospital requires them to buy.

The patients have further highlighted the inadequate medical personnel within the facility.
