Human remains found in Chemelil sugar plantation

Decomposed remains of a human were on Wednesday discovered at a sugarcane plantation in Chemelil, Muhoroni sub-county.

An agricultural officer from Chemelil sugar factory who was harvesting cane at the factory's nucleus farm bumped into the scattered remains of human skeletons.

DCI officers who were alerted arrived at the scene and managed to retrieve a human skull, pelvic bones and limbs.

Also found at the scene were assorted clothing including a school brown skirt, an old blanket, two small sufurias and two plates.

According to a police report, a wallet with a national ID card bearing the name of one Wycliffe Chemiat was also found near the scene.

The remains were taken to Ahero sub-county hospital awaiting DNA tests and identification as investigations kick off.
