Homa Bay police pursue attackers who killed granny, set house on fire

Police in Homa Bay County have launched investigations over the death of a 70-year-old granny who was murdered and her body set on fire at her home in Samunyi B village, Mbita Sub County.

The deceased, identified as Magdaline Auma Binge was attacked by unknown people at midnight who set her body on fire after killing her with crude weapons.

The attackers then made away with sacks of maize from her house. 

According to Ruri West Sub Location Assistant Chief Charles Juma Oloo the granny who was alone at her house was burnt beyond recognition during the attack. 

Oloo said the attackers set the entire house on fire and locked the door from outside before disappearing in the dark.

The administrator states that the attackers made away with four sacks of maize which were later recovered hidden in a bush about 75 meters from the compound.

The matter has been reported to Mbita police station as and the deceased’s body moved to Homa Bay mortuary.
