Hellen Wendy, the Kenyan nurse who drowned in a pool while live streaming herself on Facebook, was on Wednesday laid to rest at her family home in Getare-Misesi village, Bomachoge Chache Constituency, Kisii County.

The burial comes just three days after the body of the 23-year-old was received by family and friends at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Saturday.

Her body was then ferried to Lee Funeral Home for storage until Tuesday when it was transported by road to Kisii.

Area residents who gathered at her family's home paid tribute to Wendy mourning her as a joyful woman who will be dearly missed.

Others took the opportunity to thank God for safely delivering the deceased's body back home.

Following her death, Wendy's kin revealed that they were having trouble raising the fees required to ferry her body back to Kenya.

Her family even started a GoFundMe campaign to help raise the said funds and were finally able to foot the bill to do so thanks to well-wishers.

Speaking at JKIA on Saturday, Hellen's father noted that the family, though still in mourning, was happy to finally get the chance to lay their daughter to rest.

Wendy drowned in a pool in Toronto, Canada on August 20, 2022 while live-streaming herself on the popular social media platform.
