Government to raise Ksh.166B to complete stalled roads - Treasury CS Mbadi

Treasury Cabinet Secretary (CS) nominee John Mbadi before the National Assembly's Committee on Appointments for vetting on Saturday, August 3, 2024.

Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has assured Kenyans that the government is committed to completing all the stalled government projects across the country.

Mbadi, who was speaking in Nyatike, Migori County, said the majority of stalled projects in the country are roads.

He said all stalled roads need Ksh.166B for them to be completed and is going to help President William Ruto raise money to complete the roads.

The CS said a number of the stalled roads are in the Nyanza region adding that the government is committed to completing the roads soon.

He said the roads which the Head of the state promised to tarmac in the Nyanza region during his recent visit will also be allocated funds.

At the same time, Mbadi appealed to the motorists to ensure that there is sanity and discipline in the public transport sector.

Mbadi said most insurance companies are not willing to work with public transport because of indiscipline in the sector that has led to rising cases of road accidents.

He said there are only two insurance companies in the country that are still insuring public transport vehicles.

The CS said he discussed with some public transport sector representatives the issue of insurance and his office will work with the Interior ministry to help bring sanity to public transport.
