Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has said the ghost projects flagged by the Senate Public Accounts Committee last weekend were initiated by his predecessor Senator Jackson Mandago towards the end of his term as governor and he should not be blamed.
Speaking in Kesses on Wednesday, Bii noted that Mandago
started projects worth millions of shillings as he exited and the burden of
completing them now rests on his regime.
Bii said he won't accept to be dragged into political blame,
asking senator Mandago to stop interfering with his leadership.
He said some individuals have threatened that he will not be
re-elected in the next poll because of the incomplete projects.
At the same time, Bii weighed in on former Deputy President
Rigathi Gachagua’s utterances on the 2027 poll.
The governor said the utterances is dangerous to coexistence
and efforts made in maintaining peace and cohesion in the country.
He noted that Uasin Gishu county bore the brunt of the 2007
post-election violence, hence Gachagua’s mention of it was reckless as the
memories are still fresh in people's minds.
Bii said various communities are living peacefully in the
county and such utterances may bring disharmony among them.
