General took only one glass of wine while I took six, Ogolla's friend Were euologises
Were, who met the Chief of Defence Forces when he was 17 years old has mourned him as a man who was dedicated to everything that he did and measured everything he did as well.
The professor, who was then dating Ogolla’s cousin shared how the General was disciplined.
“Francis and I regularly sat together to have a glass of wine or two. He would take one glass when I would take six because he had better control of things than I did. He would not try to stop me,” Were shared.
He described Ogolla as a man who kept time and respected everyone.
“He never came late to a social meeting, let alone the serious ones that His Excellency would require of him. I can assure you that even in the little matters where he came to say hello, he kept his time,” he said, recalling the day General had to wait on the benches of the University of Nairobi to have a meeting with him.
On his part, Ogolla’s brother Cannon Hezekiah Oduor described him as a very staunch Christian, who loved prayers and read the bible severally.
“General has left a very big gap in our family because he was taking care of their dad, ensuring he got his medication and checkups regularly. He also took care of orphans and widows in the community,” Oduor euologised.
The CDF will be laid to rest today at his Mor home in Siaya County.
