In recent years, awareness of the importance of daily sun protection has significantly increased across Kenya and Africa. More people now recognize that sunscreen is essential in preventing sun damage from UV rays, dark marks, and premature ageing.
However, many existing products have been reported to leave a white residue and feel heavy, making them less suitable for daily use on darker skin tones.
Consumers across Africa have long sought a high-performance, lightweight SPF that leaves no white cast and protects against sun-induced dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and uneven skin tone—common concerns for those with melanin-rich skin.
According to Natalie Njenga, Brand Business Lead at L'Oréal, the latest sunscreen, Garnier Super UV SPF 50, directly responds to consumer demand for a high-quality, dermatologically tested product. It has been tested on African skin, is lightweight in texture, and leaves no white cast—all at an affordable price. Additionally, it contains Vitamin C, which helps correct dark marks, she adds.
“The launch of Garnier Super UV SPF 50 Sunscreen is a milestone in skincare innovation. We understand the unique skincare challenges faced by people with melanin-rich skin, and this sunscreen is formulated to provide 99% protection from sun damage and dark marks,” says Natalie Njenga.
