Farah Maalim not appointed Wiper deputy leader, he's on disciplinary action - Kalonzo

Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Sunday dismissed information indicating controversial Daadab MP Farah Maalim has been elected deputy party leader of the Wiper Party.

Asked about the gazette notice from the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties, Kalonzo termed it as a 'terrible' development.

"By the way the Farah Maalim thing must be made very clear because there was some very funny attempts I don't know whether by the Registrar of Political Parties to give the impression that the party has had elections and we have re-elected Farah Maalim as a deputy leader," Kalonzo said.

"That was a terrible, concoction. Farah Maalim is undergoing disciplinary proceedings by Wiper Democratic Movement," he added.

Maalim had earlier been expelled from the party for making inflammatory remarks, in his native Somali dialect.

The MP, speaking in an undated video that went viral, seemingly intimated that if he were the President of Kenya, he would have "slaughtered 5,000 Gen Z protesters” during the recent wave of anti-Finance Bill 2024 demonstrations.

Kalonzo also hinted at disciplinary action against MPs who went against the party position and voted to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Wiper had indicated it was against the impeachment and implored its members to support that stand.
