Family of mother and daughter killed in Kitengela accident speaks
A 63-year-old mother and her 41-year-old daughter were knocked down by a speeding Prado TX vehicle which is currently detained at Kitengela police station pending investigations.
The family of Abigail Mogera and her daughter Catherine Mogera who were knocked down by the speeding vehicle is still trying to come to terms with the tragedy.
Willis Mogera, Abigail's son said her mother and his sister had gone shopping at a mall across the road before they were knocked down.
Willis who was away with friends would later receive a strange phone call from hospital.
“I knew my mum had health issues so she was undergoing check ups. But I wondered why they took her to Saitoti hospital. He calls again…this time he became brave…he said there is a lady here and an old woman wametuacha,” he says.
The area popularly known as Yukos has been labelled as a blackspot. According to the residents, the stretch has become a killer spot due to speeding.
“There is a mall here, they need to put speed bumps there to end these incidents,” Willis says.
According to the reports, 32-year-old Waleed Khalid Alkizim who was driving the vehicle was in a hurry to return his father's car that he had taken without his permission before causing the accident.
Waleed was released on a Ksh. 50,000 cash bail.
Kitengela OCS David Ole Shani says the accused will be arraigned in court after the post-mortem of the deceased which has been scheduled for Thursday.
The bodies of the deceased are lying at the Saitoti Hospital mortuary.
