The Kenya Union Party (KUP), led by former West Pokot Governor Prof. John Lonyangapuo, has formally signed a post-election agreement with the Kenya Kwanza alliance.

The announcement was made by United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party Secretary General Cleophas Malala during a press briefing on Thursday.

KUP is now expected to align with Kenya Kwanza on all key issues, according to the officials, including the bipartisan talks.

Speaking during the briefing, Malala stated that the bipartisan talks have fostered an environment of mutual understanding, and that the opposition Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party should approach the talks with open arms and honesty.

“Today we announce the signing of a significant coalition agreement. This milestone partnership marks a new era of unity and collaboration in Kenya’s political landscape,” Malala said.

“The coalition agreement between Kenya Kwanza Alliance and KUP is rooted in the shared vision of advancing the welfare of Kenyan people.”

Malala also added that the President William Ruto-led Kenya Kwanza is ready for the talks as he asked Azimio to do away with the demonstrations.

He also hinted that there are two major parties that could be joining Kenya Kwanza soon.

KUP Party leader Prof. Lonyangapuo, on his part, said the move was fully supported by the political outfit’s followers in their push for development.

“Mimi pamoja na team yangu ya KUP tumetimiza ile safari tulikuwa tumepanga kama chama kuhakikisha mambo ambayo tulipewa na wafuasi wetu yameweza kuafikishwa baada ya sisi kujiunga na hiki chama kikubwa cha Kenya Kwanza. Ni vizuri kujua mahali uko na mahali unaenda,” he stated.

Leaders present said that the move to bring KUP on board will bring unity and collaboration.
