Dr. Aggrey High School closed indefinitely after second fire breaks out
Dr Aggrey Boys High School in Wundanyi, Taita Taveta County has been closed indefinitely and all students sent home following a second dormitory fire early Saturday.
The inferno which broke out two days after yet another
dormitory fire on Thursday night sent thick plumes of smoke billowing into the
sky as alarms rang across the school.
The students and staff were sent into a frenzy as the cause still
remains unknown.
Quick action from students, the local community, and the
county fire fighting department saw the flames contained before they could
spread further.
Despite the chaos, all students were safely evacuated, and
no injuries have been reported.
Authorities are now piecing together the circumstances
behind these back-to-back fires, with speculation pointing to possible
electrical faults following heavy rains in the region.
The second fire raises serious concerns about the school’s
safety measures, prompting calls for a thorough probe to prevent future
incidents.
On Thursday night another fire destroyed a dormitory and left
hundreds of students without their personal belongings.
The blaze erupted shortly after students had finished their
evening meals and were heading to class for night preps.
Firefighters arrived promptly at the scene and managed to
contain the flames, preventing the fire from spreading to other buildings
