Detectives question key suspects in Campbell Scott murder

Homicide detectives have questioned several suspects as they seek to unravel the killers of Campbell Scott, a British national who disappeared in Nairobi before his decomposing body was discovered in a forest in Makueni.
Those on their radar are two men suspected to have been in the company of the British national while at a hotel in Nairobi’s Westlands before Scott disappeared.
Among the two is a man, captured by CCTV cameras on Sunday at 4:36 p.m., accompanying Scott as they left the hotel in Westlands. Police say they are pursuing the man to record his statement.
It is suspected that he is also the one who requested a taxi and took a ride with the deceased to Nairobi’s Pipeline estate on Monday, February 17. Five days later, Scott’s decomposing body was discovered in a forest in Makueni.
Police arrested a taxi driver who took Scott and the man to
Pipeline recorded his statement, and released him on police bond but detained
the motor vehicle.
As part of the probe, crime scene investigators spent the
better part of Tuesday at Makongo Forest, where the decomposing body was
discovered. Investigators revisited the scene as they pieced together the last
moments of the deceased.
Homicide investigators have also recorded statements from a witness who spotted the body on Saturday while it was wrapped in a sack.
Plans are underway for an autopsy as police work on a forensic analysis of the deceased’s mobile phone and bank accounts. Police want to find out if there were any financial transactions prior to Scott’s killing.
Investigators are working with their counterparts in the UK, where Scott was based before travelling to Kenya on February 16 for a business meeting, but he disappeared the very next day.
