‘Pack and leave,’ CS Tobiko vows to evict Murkomen from Embobut Forest
Environment Cabinet Secretary Keriako Tobiko says Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen is one of the individuals who have illegally encroached Embombut Forest.
Tobiko insists all water catchment areas will be conserved and illegal encroachers flushed out regardless of their political affiliation.
The CS singled out Senator Murkomen as one of the illegal encroachers asking him to begin packing and leave the forest.
“We will not allow what happened in Mau Forest to happen here. When Mau evictions were happening, this guy called Murkomen was one of those who went to Maasai Mau and insisted people would not leave. Didn’t they leave. He personally lives in Embobut Forest. Senator Murkomen start packing and leave. The forest is not yours,” Tobiko said.
In a quick rejoinder, Murkomen accused CS Tobiko of embarking on a revenge path, following their recent clash over political utterances targeting the President Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto.
“We have a CS who is mentally deranged. Just because of one tweet he has exploded andnow promising to revenge against me and my father. Never mind the facts he will find some crime somewhere in the books. Just imagine this idiot was once our DPP! From Embobut to Tobiko I say come baby come!” Murkomen tweeted.
He added: “Tobiko you contributed nothing to UhuRuto. In both Ilpolosat and Mashuri polling stations,NASA won.Your MCAs both in Imaroro and Kaputiei Wards are NASA. No one knows u in your village which you only visit for funerals. In Embobut Uhuru won all votes you can’t defend him better than me.”
The CS, who spoke after an aerial assessment of the forest situation and water-pan projects around Morijo-loita Community in Narok West constituency, attributed current water overflow in the Maasai Mara River and roaring tourism activities in the county to evictions inside the Mau water tower in November last year.
He said the conservation was an express directive from President Uhuru Kenyatta that will be implemented, despite claims of selective evictions as alleged by leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto.
