Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano led a Kenyan delegation at the 2025 US-Africa Connect Conference, held at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA.

The event brought together key figures from across business, government, and technology sectors to foster high-impact partnerships between the United States and Africa.

Led by CS Miano, the delegation showcased a dynamic blend of innovation, heritage, and athletic excellence, capturing the attention of conference attendees and amplifying the country's growing global influence.

While delivering her address, CS Miano unveiled The Roosevelt Africa Trail, a visionary tourism initiative inspired by the 1909–1910 Smithsonian-Roosevelt Africa Expedition.

Designed to span Kenya, Uganda, and potentially other countries in the region, the project promises a transformative, conservation-focused travel experience that blends history, culture, and environmental stewardship.

“This trail has the potential to reshape tourism in East Africa by offering immersive, historically rich experiences,” said Miano. “It’s not just a journey through nature—it’s a journey through time.”

Kenya’s presence at the “Tech Synergies in Global Marathons” panel highlighted the nation’s contributions to athletic performance and innovation.

John Korir, the 2025 Boston Marathon champion, spoke alongside his coach Ron Mann about the role of traditional East African foods in elite training.

“It’s part of our identity and a source of strength for every mile we run.”

Kenya’s multifaceted presence at the MIT conference underscored the nation’s growing role in shaping global conversations around tourism, nutrition, and innovation.

From historic trails to high-performance food science, Kenya is crafting a narrative of excellence, resilience, and cross-continental collaboration.

Through strategic engagement at forums like US-Africa Connect, Kenya continues to position itself as a leader in innovation-driven diplomacy—turning local strengths into global opportunities.
