COVID-19: Kenya records 50 cases, zero deaths as positivity rate at 3.2 per cent

The Ministry of Health on Friday reported that
50 people contracted COVID-19 out of a sample size of 1,583 tested
in the past 24 hours, bringing the positivity rate to 3.2 per cent.
From the cases, 45 are Kenyans while 5 are
foreigners; 28 are females and 22 are males, while the youngest is a
4-month-old and the oldest is 102 years.
Total confirmed positive cases are now 337,550 out
of 3,818,074 cumulative
tests conducted so far.
The infections were distributed across
various counties as follows: Nairobi 16, Nakuru 10, Uasin Gishu 6, Siaya 5, Kiambu 4, Busia 2, Homa
Bay 2, Taita Taveta 2, Kirinyaga, Makueni and Mombasa 1
case each.
At the same time, 106 patients recovered from
the disease. No deaths were however recorded within the said period, hence cumulative
fatalities stand at 5,672.
"There are 55 patients currently
admitted in our health facilities, while 589 are under the Home-Based Isolation
and Care program," noted Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe in a
statement to newsrooms.
On the vaccination front, the ministry noted
that a total of 20,142,950 vaccines had been administered
across the country as of July 28, 2022.
In the last 24 hours, the ministry recorded
that 153,569
vaccines had been administered while the total number of people fully
vaccinated in the same period is 42,277
“Proportion of adults fully vaccinated was
33.5%. The Government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of
27,246,033,” added the CS.
