Communications Authority announces vacancy days after Chiloba's resignation

The Communications Authority of Kenya has advertised the position of Director-General which was previously held by former electoral commission IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba who resigned last week.

Chiloba resigned from the position on Wednesday, October 18 marking the end of his two-year tenure at the authority.

In a notice in the local dailies, the Communications Authority invited qualified persons to submit their applications by 5pm on Friday, November 17.

According to the notice, applicants are required to be holders of a Bachelors Degree in in any of the following: Telecommunications, Information Technology, Applied and Physical Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences. Business-related fields, or equivalent qualification.

To fit the position one is also required to be proficient in computer applications and fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution on Integrity.

On work experience, applicants are required to have a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant work experience with at least five (5) years in senior management.

The required skills include financial acumen and the ability to mobilize and manage resources effectively and knowledge of emerging technologies and their impact on the sector.

The Director General of the Communications Authority is the Chief Executive Officer and the Accounting Officer of the Authority managing the day-to-day business, providing overall leadership and is the spokesperson of the Authority on all operational matters.

The DG is tasked with providing strategic leadership, setting a clear vision for CA, and aligning its operations with the national and sectoral objectives.
