The manager of Embassy Club along Thika Road in Nairobi was on Saturday night arrested alongside six partygoers during a crackdown on shisha vending and smoking in the city.
The National
Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) said 23
shisha bongs and 40 tobacco flavours were confiscated from the club during the raid.
“The
suspects were all booked at Jogoo Road police station vide OB No.07/21/01/24
awaiting arraignment in court,” the authority said on Monday.
Smoking of shisha has been outlawed in Kenya
since 2017 after the State banned the use, import, manufacture, distribution
and promotion of the tobacco product.
