Church calls on gov't to put an end to abductions
The call for reconciliation echoed across churches, with religious leaders from the Holy Family Basilica and the All Saints Cathedral joining other leaders in reminding the faithful of their collective responsibility to foster harmony in their homes, communities, and the nation.
"God is love you must love your enemies as you love yourself, God is mercy you must show mercy to the other people, that God is gracious may the grace of the Lord be upon you," Abraham Mulwa, Country Presiding Bishop AIC said.
The clergy did not shy away from addressing the pressing concerns facing Kenyans calling on the government to prioritise justice and put an end to abductions, vowing to continue holding leaders accountable.
"We continue praying for them to be sober we pray for the President to remain focused, we heard his speech yesterday but we also maintain our place as a church to remain prophetic to tell the government where it has not performed well even though a times we are told to shut up," Thegu, PCEA moderator stated.
"This is the year that we must turn to God so that God can speak to us and we must turn to him in confidence that he hears and he will forgive and restore us and even to our nation today there is no any other medicine than to turn to God after 60 years we must look back and see where we have gone wrong," Mulwa added.
While expressing their displeasure with the transition from the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) to the Social Health Authority, the church leaders also discouraged politicians from initiating extension of term limits conversation and focus on service delivery.
"We feel very sad because young people are very useful to our country and when they are terrorized we are terrorizing our future therefore we call on the State to stop abductions," Thegu pointed out.
"The idea of abductions we pray that may the good Lord may hear through by giving us good leadership that the good lord also grant us the love for one another," Antony Ngala- Catholic Bishop, Migori remarked.
