CBK Governor, Deputy Governor positions advertised

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has invited qualified candidates to apply for the Governor and Deputy Governor positions at the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK).

The CBK governor position is held for a period of four years after appointment, and the candidates can be eligible for a one-term re-appointment.

CBK Governor and Deputy Governors (2) are appointed by the President after the recommendation of PSC and with the approval of Parliament.

Candidate should be a Kenyan citizen with more than 10 years’ experience in managerial position, and have experience in monetary, banking, financial and economic matters.

According to PSC, the applicant should not be a Member of Parliament or County Assembly, a salaried employee of a public entity or an officer, director, employee, shareholder in a bank or specified financial institutions.

Applicants are required to submit their documents to the public service on or before April 19, 2023.

CBK governor is the Chief Executive Officer of the Bank and is responsible for its management; including appointment and dismissal of the staff in accordance with the general terms and conditions of service established by the Board. He or she also has authority to incur expenditure for the Bank within the administrative budget approved by the Board.

The CBK governor position is currently held by Patrick Njoroge, who was appointed by former President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2015, and re-appointed in 2019.

Sheila M'Mbijjewe and Susan Koech are the deputy governors.
