A businessman was on Tuesday charged at the Kibera Law Courts with three counts of issuing a bad cheque contrary with the law.

John Malago Nderitu was charged that on April 16, 2016, at Granada Trading Company offices in Twiga Towers building in Nairobi, he issued a cheque for Ksh.999,000 to Rajendra Sanghani knowing that his account had insufficient funds.

Malago further a second count of issuing another bad cheque on April 26, and yet another on May 17, 2016 at the same venue.

The defence lawyer pleaded with the court to grant the accused lenient terms, saying he is willing to comply with measures set by the court.

He was released on a bond of Ksh.400,000 with a surety of the same amount, or alternative cash bail of Ksh.100,000.

The matter will be mentioned on April 13, 2024 for pre-trial and directions.
