Business, political leaders support Duale amid push for removal as Majority Leader

A section of business and political leaders on Thursday came out to defend Garissa Township Member of Parliament Aden Duale from an onslaught seeking to remove him as National Assembly Majority Leader.

The Eastleigh Business Community led by Vice-Chair Yassin Juma expressed their support for Duale saying he had shown dedication in serving the country as House Majority Leader.

They thanked President Kenyatta for having confidence in Duale to steer the government business in Parliament.

“We would like to thank the president for the confidence he has shown in Hon. Aden Duale. As business community we are grateful to the president for his leadership and would like to assure him of our support in achieving his Big Four Agenda. Hon Duale is known for his loyalty, dedication and most importantly his passion for this great country,” said Yassin.

“It was great to hear that Duale has retained his majority leader position. As the Somali community here in Nairobi Duale represents the leadership  the whole community,” said Noor Mohamed of the Eastleigh Small Traders Association.

At the same time, political leaders from the North Eastern Region led by Garissa Senator Yusuf Haji said Duale viewed as a diehard follower of Deputy President William Ruto, is loyal to President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Jubilee Party.

Duale survived the purge on perceived errant Jubilee MPs in the National Assembly, though his critics claim he is not yet out of the woods.

A section of lawmakers are collecting signatures in support of a push to dislodge Duale from the seat.
