Brigadier Paul Njuguna appointed new KDF spokesperson

The recently appointed Chief of Strategic Communications, Brigadier
Paul Njuguna has assumed office as the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) spokesperson.
According to a statement issued by KDF on Wednesday, Brigadier
Njuguna officially took up his new role from his predecessor, Brigadier Zipporah
Kioko on Tuesday, a position she has held since 2022.
Brigadier Kioko on the other hand took over Njuguna's former
office as the Director of Corporate Communications at the National Defence
University-Kenya.
“Following the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) postings,
promotions and appointments that took place on Thursday, 26 July 2024, the new
Chief of Strategic Communications, Brigadier Paul Njuguna officially assumed
office on Tuesday, 20 August 2024 from his predecessor, Brigadier Zipporah
Kioko,” stated the notice.
Brigadier Njuguna boasts of immense experience in the communication
field having served as the Colonel Public Affairs and AMISOM (now ATMIS) Force
Spokesperson.
He also served as the Head of Postgraduate Studies and the
Director of Corporate Communications at the National Defence University-Kenya,
at the time being a Colonel.
While expressing confidence in Njuguna’s competence in the
new role, the Ministry has assured the media and the public of continuous corroboration.
“Brigadier Njuguna brings a wealth of knowledge and
experience to the office of Strategic Communications…As he assumes office in
the vital role, the media is assured of continuous collaboration towards
informing the public of KDF's undertakings within the country, in the region
and beyond," stated the notice.
Brigadier Kioko takes over Brigadier Njuguna's former office
as Director of Corporate Communications at National Defence University-Kenya.
The changes in the military were effected by President William Ruto following
an advisory by the Defence Council on July 24.
“His Excellency Dr William Samoei Ruto, C.G.H, President of
the Republic of Kenya, and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, pursuant
to section 9 (2) (a) of the Kenya Defence Forces Act, has today, on the advice
of the Defence Council Chaired by Prime Cabinet Secretary and acting Cabinet
Secretary Ministry of Defence Musalia Mudavadi, upheld the Council's
recommendations and made various promotions, postings and appointments of Kenya
Defence Forces Officers as follows,” read the notice in July.
