Bobi Wine now charged with intending to annoy President Museveni

Ugandan musician-turned-politician Bobi Wine has been charged with a new count of intending to annoy, alarm or ridicule the president.

This is in connection to the August 2018 incident where he was accused of leading a protest where President Yoweri Museveni’s motorcade was stoned by protesters.

Wine, whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi, is also facing a charge of treason and could be jailed for life if convicted.

The MP was charged with treason on August 23, 2018 in a military court after days of detention and severe torture.

Despite the brutal encounter with Ugandan government, Bobi Wine remains critical of the Museveni’s administration.

He has since declared his bid to contest for the Presidential seat against Museveni in the 2021 election.
