Autopsy reveals hairdresser Jane Mwende was strangled to death
It has now emerged that Jane
Mwende Mwanzia, a hairdresser in Mlolongo, Machakos County, was strangled to
death.
A post-mortem conducted at Montezuma Monalisa Mortuary in Machakos
town on Thursday evening indicated that 29-year-old Mwende died from
asphyxiation, caused by manual neck compression.
“Kulingana na ile ripoti
kutoka kwa daktari, kifo chake kilitokana na kunyongwa…maisha yake ilipotea
kutokana na kunyongwa…walifanya kufunga shuka na kukaza,” John Mutuku, the
family spokesperson said.
Following the findings, the police investigating the mysterious
murder of Jane Mwende have made a significant stride in the shocking case as
the family calls for a speedy investigation.
“Kupitia kwa hawa wapelezi tunaomba wafanye haraka tuweze kupata
haki,” Mutuku added.
On Wednesday, suspects in the gruesome murder were arraigned and
police granted 10 days to continue holding them in
custody.
Mavoko Law Courts Senior Principal Magistrate Barbra Ojoo allowed the
State to continue holding Evelyn Wanza Katumbu and Faith Nthemba Kyalo as
investigations continue.
However, the man at the centre of the investigation, Januaries
Musau, was released and will be a key prosecution witness in the murder case.
Police received information that Mwende may have vanished as a
result of a love triangle involving Musau, alias Shady, his wife Evelyn Wanza,
and another woman in the area identified as Phyllis Mbithe.
Suspect Faith Nthemba Kyalo, 25, has been mentioned as the
one who made the phone call to Mwende the day she disappeared, setting her up
to her killers. Faith and the woman identified as Phylis Mbithe are neighbours
at the rented houses in Phase 3.
The
decomposing body of the 29-year-old Mwende was discovered on Tuesday dumped in a pit
latrine within the rental houses.
