Are wedding bells ringing for Bomet Woman Rep Linet Toto?
A series of
photographs doing rounds on social media have left Kenyans in a frenzy after
they appeared to intimate that Bomet County Woman Representative Linet ‘Toto’ Chepkorir
may no longer be on the market.
In the
photographs, seen by Citizen Digital, a man since identified as Bomet
businessman Godfrey Kimutai can be seen going down on one knee, engagement ring
in hand, seemingly proposing to Toto.
Kimutai asks the
big question in a room that is aptly decorated with red heart-shaped balloons,
white and red rose petals and illuminated with candles as close friends and
family look on.
The message
"Will you marry me?" is also captured in the background of one of the
photographs.
A subsequent photograph shows the couple posing in a warm embrace, as Toto holds a bouquet of flowers, after the Woman Rep evidently agreed to tie the knot with her now fiancé Kimutai.
The news of the
proposal, which has yet to be officially announced by the couple on any of
their social media platforms, came as a surprise to Kenyans on Twitter since
the soft spoken politician has rarely ever been seen in public with her lover.
Toto rose to fame
after the August 2022 polls when she clinched Bomet's Woman Rep seat after
garnering 242, 775 votes to floor other nine seasoned politicians who were in
the race, including then Nominated Senator Dr. Alice Milgo who came a distant
second with 43,180 votes.
While her
competitors traversed the five sub-counties of Bomet with fuel-guzzling
vehicles, Toto walked to campaign venues, markets, funerals, and churches by
using a motorcycle. She would later use vehicles donated and fuelled by
well-wishers.
During her
acceptance speech, Toto promised to work with her competitors and all residents
of Bomet irrespective of their political affiliation.
Toto has recently
come under fire from a section of politicians allied to Raila Odinga's Azimio
la Umoja One Kenya coalition party for castigating the former Prime Minister over
his anti-President William Ruto rallies.
