Another Babu Owino scandal returns to haunt him

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has made an application to the court to have police barred from arresting him over an incident.

In court papers seen by Citizen Digital, Owino says Bernard Omondi Ogoji lodged a complaint against him at Kileleshwa police station and the Central Police station in August 2015.

The court papers however recorded that the two complaints were withdrawn by the complainant in the presence of an investigating officer on August 12, 2015.

In his application,  Owino says that the complainant has started making attempts to have the complaint that he wilfully withdrew, re-opened if he is not paid an unspecified amount of money.

Through his lawyers, Owino argued that the application to re-open his case had begun after his latest run-in with the law and was malicious and tantamount to extortion.

Babu says that if the matter is re-opened, it will subject him to public ridicule and unnecessary media attention.

The latest comes just weeks after the vocal MP was released on a Ksh.5M cash bail following his arrest and arraignment in court over attempted murder.

The MP was arrested after he shot Felix Orinda popularly known as DJ Envy on the neck during a night out at B-Club.

The DJ is still at the Nairobi Hospital’s ICU where he was admitted after the incident.
