Aisha Jumwa, Millicent Omanga back in Gov’t as President Ruto makes fresh appointments
Former Gender Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa and ex-Nominated
Senator Millicent Omanga have landed new State jobs in the latest round of appointments.
In a gazette notice released
on Friday, President William Ruto appointed Jumwa as the non-Executive
Chairperson of the Kenya Roads Board for a period of three years.
Jumwa, who was fired as a CS in July last year, now takes over from Ahmed Kolosh Mohamed whose
appointment has effectively been terminated.
“In exercise of the powers
conferred by section 7 (1) (a) of the Kenya Roads Board Act, as read together
with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, I,
William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief
of the Defence Forces, appoint Aisha Jumwa Katana to be the non-executive
Chairperson of the Kenya Roads Board, for a period of three (3) years, with
effect from the 17th January 2025,” read the notice.
The President also
appointed George Wanga as the non-Executive Chairperson of the Energy and
Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) for the same period.
Mr. Wanga will replace
Jackton Boma Ojwang whose tenure now stands revoked.
Former Tarbaj MP Mohamed
Ibrahim Elmi also made it to the President’s list as the new non-Executive
Chairperson of the National Livestock Development and Promotion Service, for
the same period.
Defence Cabinet Secretary
Soipan Tuya tapped Senator Omanga as a member of the Board of Directors of
Kenya Shipyards Limited for a period of three years, effective Tuesday, January
14.
Allan Kosgey, who in 2022
was seeking the Nandi gubernatorial seat on Ruto’s UDA party but lost to
Governor Stephen Sang during the nominations, also landed a job as the non-Executive
Chairperson of the Board of the Kenya Industrial Property Institute for a
period of three years.
He was appointed by the
newly installed Trade Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui just hours after assuming
office.
President Ruto went ahead
to pick Mary Wanjira Kimonye to be the Vice-Chairperson of the Public Service
Commission for a period of six (6) years and former IEBC Commissioner Boya Molu
as one of the seven members of the State body for the same period.
The other six members
appointed to the PSC are: Harun Maalim Hassan, Mwanamaka Amani Mabruki, Francis
Meja, Dr Irene Cherotich Asienga, Joan Andisi Machayo and Dr. Francis Otieno
Owino.
