Ababu Namwamba to support DP Ruto in 2022

Newly minted Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Ababu Namwamba has said that he wants to see Deputy President William Ruto ascend to the highest office in the land.

In an interview with Citizen Extra, Mr. Namwamba, the Foreign Affairs CAS voiced his support for Mr. Ruto, in his quest to be the flag bearer of Jubilee Party ahead of the 2022 elections.

Mr. Namwamba told host Waihiga Mwaura, he believes Ruto has earned the right to become the party’s presidential flag bearer for the 2022 elections.

“What my preference is if you ask me come 2022, I would tell you without a doubt is that Deputy President William Ruto has earned his space,” he said.

Namwamba added that the events of Friday; where President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga met and called for a truce, doesn’t change the fact that Ruto is to succeed the president.

He went on to commend the two for publicly coming out and solving their differences, saying that it goes a long way in toning down the political atmosphere in the country.

He believes that the move will bring Kenyans together and help the country focus on more pressing issues.

Mr. Namwamba further clarified that the Western region was well represented in the government.

His reply comes after ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi’s stance that the region was left out during allocation of government positions.

He explained that the Chief Administrative Secretaries were appointed within the law adding that there was no secrecy with the process.

“This position is created under article 132(4A). That article gives the president the power to constitute any office in the public service provided that is done with the Public Service Commission,” he said.

Mr. Namwamba said the role of the CAS is to liase with the different ministries, Parliament and county governments in ensuring that the three work in sync.
