Police in Nyakach, Kisumu County have arrested an 18-year-old boy after he hit to death a relative for allegedly calling his father a witch in Dirubi village.

His father identified as Valentine Ochieng was later killed by an angry mob that invaded his home in retaliation.

The angry mob further went ahead to burn down four houses at the home of the suspect.

According to a police report, the 18-year-old was in the company of his father on their way home when they bumped into the deceased who allegedly accused his father of being a witch.

The young man then got into an altercation with the deceased where he overpowered him before striking his head with a wooden stick. He was rushed to Nyabondo Mission Hospital before being transferred to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the angry mob then invaded the suspect's father's home where they lynched him before setting his home ablaze.

The matter is being investigated by police.
