The Ministry of Health says 153 cholera cases have so far been reported in Migori, Kisumu and
Nairobi counties.
Public Health
Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni on Sunday said of these cases, 53 have been
reported in Migori, 56 in Kisumu, and 44 in Nairobi.
Muthoni said efforts
are being made to stop the spread of the disease within and beyond the three
counties.
“I remind the public
of the need to observe personal hygiene such as hand washing, boiling drinking
water, clearing bushes and using pit latrines,” the PS said after attending a
church service in Gichugu, Kirinyaga County.
Muthoni further warned that open
defecation should be avoided at all costs, as the floods continue in different
parts of the country due to the ongoing rains.
